For our third day in Lucerne, we enjoyed a slow start to the day and strolled on the city ramparts and towers. There are beautiful views from on top of the wall, where you can see the Swiss Alps and Mt. Pilatus.

From there we walked down to the lion monument, which is gorgeous, along with passing by the reflection pool. While out and about, we enjoyed lunch was on the river front. A lovely pizza and caprese salad at Ristorante Da Ernesto restaurant hit the spot.

After some shopping we checked in to the Astoria hotel to join our tour group. The group dinner was at a river side brewery named
Rathaus Brauerei, “Rat House Brewery”. We had a nice dinner of roasted  chicken and dessert was famous Black Forest Cake.

We took a stroll over the Chapel Bridge back to our hotel. We had cocktails at the Astoria’s roof top bar and watched the sun set over the Alps.

Our fourth day was a bigger adventure!

We started the day with a ride on an incline train, then cabriole cable car to top of Mt. Stansahorn. We saw the cutest marmots, which live on the mountains, and Greg hiked to the peak where there were lots of wild flowers and stunning views.

Then  we took a ride to Engelberg to take a country stroll on horse drawn carriages through the village of Engelberg and around the countryside at the base of Mt. Titlis.

We tasted local wines and cheeses made from the local farmers that hosted us and told us about her dairy.

After the drive back to Lucerne, we cooled off at the rooftop bar at the Astoria Hotel, called The Penthouse. This 360-degree bar offers beautiful views of the Alps and Mt. Pilatus.

After, we went to a Swiss dinner show at the Stadtkeller Restaurant and participated in the fun, with music, alpine horn blowing, and lots of folk dancing. Fun was had by all (but maybe by me most of all!)
